Do you sort your rubbish at home?

Separating rubbish correctly is essential for maintaining the quality of our lives. Recycling not only has a positive influence on environmental issues, it also helps the economy and the organisation of the city. See how simple it is to separate rubbish and the benefits it brings to everyday life.

Small habits can change the world! Separating rubbish, for example, seems like such a simple and practical thing to do that we don't even think about how important it is for our quality of life. Knowing how to correctly sort each type of waste helps a lot when it comes to collecting and reusing objects, generating a sustainable environment and a cleaner, more productive nature.

Here's how to sort recyclable waste correctly at home:

Don't mix organic waste with recyclables: The first step in separating waste is to separate leftover food, such as vegetable and fruit peelings, from recyclable waste. Put plastics and metals in one bag and leftovers in another.

Wash recyclable packaging: When disposing of milk cartons, pet bottles or cans, rinse them before putting them in the bin. This prevents the accumulation of mosquitoes and insects.

Glass: Bottles and jars can be disposed of as normal, but if the glass is broken or has any other sharp material, such as a razor blade, wrap it in some paper (like newspaper) or put it in a box to prevent collectors or anyone else from getting hurt.

Paper: When disposing of paper, remember that dirty paper is not recyclable. They should be folded and not crumpled. Give preference to dry ones.

Cover the rubbish: For both recyclable and organic rubbish, opt for closed containers. It keeps away insects that are attracted to the smell of food.
