The Port of Santos remains an important political and economic issue in 2023.
The recent changes in the President and Governor of the State of São Paulo, both belonging to different political parties, have placed the largest port in Latin America in even greater doubt as to whether or not it will be privatized.
According to a publication on the website of the Federal Government in October 2022, a possible privatization would bring investments of around R$20.3 billion. This could bring new technologies and new activities to the Port of Santos and bring it even closer to the other major ports in the world.
Currently, despite being the largest port in Brazil and Latin America, the Port of Santos ranks 45th in the world for cargo handling. In fact, it has accumulated important records and greatly facilitates the flow of national production and is the main gateway for products, but there is room for improvement. Regardless of the privatizations, the port continues to offer great opportunities for investors.
On its official website, the administrator states that, as one of the country's main infrastructure assets, of fundamental importance for Brazilian foreign trade, the Port of Santos has a unique attractiveness. If your company is interested in operating a terminal, the Port of Santos offers a series of opportunities, listed on the New Business page.
