In protest against efficiency bonuses, the Tax Auditors of the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service instituted the “Revenue Blackout” last month. How does the partial work stoppage affect foreign trade?
The decision was approved at a meeting of the National Union of Federal Revenue Auditors (Sindifisco), attended by 3,800 members.
The strike by the auditors has an impact on the flow and efficiency of foreign trade operations, whether importing or exporting goods, mainly during the customs clearance process to which they are subjected; also, especially if, during the process, the goods are parameterized in the yellow or red channels, and are checked in more detail in documentary or physical terms, respectively.
Not only in terms of time, but it also has an impact on the costs of the operation and, consequently, on its pricing, because the longer it takes for the goods to be released, the greater the increases in storage costs, container demurrage, days of delay in production processes and so on.
