International PIX transactions are on the agenda of Banco Central do Brasil and should come into force after the approval of the new foreign exchange law.
The new payment method from Brazilian regulators will be available for international transfers as of 2022 or 2023. João Manoel Pinho de Mello, director of Pix at Banco Central, announced the new functionality at the virtual event 'Fintechs, Digital Banks and Means of Payment'.
The exchange legislation mentioned is currently being discussed in the National Congress - the idea is that this new possibility for Pix will be put into effect as soon as it is approved.
