The packing list and commercial invoice are fundamental documents in an exporter's routine. That's why it's essential to master their procedures and main functions.
The Commercial Invoice is the document that contains all the commercial terms and conditions for carrying out an international purchase/sale, and is considered a contract between buyer and seller. In a way, it resembles an invoice and contains information such as: buyer, seller, goods traded, quantity, unit value, total, payment method, Incoterm to be used, guarantee conditions, NCM and others.
The Packing List is the document that contains details of how the goods on the Commercial Invoice are packaged, taking into account: type of volume, net and gross weight, size of each one and the total, among others. Both documents are complementary and obligatory for a transaction to be carried out correctly, from a commercial quotation to the actual shipment.
